Africa Agriculture Awards aim at recognizing efforts of individuals, institutions, organizations, partners who have continuously played a role in the development of the Africa agriculture sector. The Awards establish forward focused tradition of honoring unsung heroes through an Award platform. Over the last 20 years Africa agriculture has been on transformation agenda after the signing up of thje Maputo declaration where heads of states committed to the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) agenda, this was later transformed into the Maputo declaration, The inaugural awards will recognize individuals and organizations plus partners that have played a key role in the shaping of the continent’s agriculture under the theme “Celebrating 20years of CAADP”. The Awards will be presented to different champions at the sidelines of the Africa agriculture summit.

The inaugural Africa agriculture Awards , as an initiative by Her Excellency Josefa Sacko Commissioner African Union directorate of rural economy and environment. The awards will bring together the entire continental Agriculture Sector, value chain actors and sector players to one main platform with the aim of recognizing Excellency, appreciating, inspiring and motivating for sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness development. This is also be a platform for partnerships, appreciating effort, understanding and profiling various agriculture sector players for sustainable sector development. We belive the awards shall build a long new culture for appreciating people but also help motivate young African agriculturalists.

The awards will be presented to different categories to those individuals, organizations, media houses, and academia who have made outstanding contributions to the Africa over the years.
